ET CETERA

Prague/Czechia/2019

For the second time, I was approached by the Eleutheria Foundation to help them bring together street art artists, connect them with this world, and assist in organizing an exhibition focused on Czech and Italian street art. I believe it turned out well.

Press release: The street art exhibition “ET CETERA: On the Wings of Freedom” celebrated young Czech Republic and Italy artists and significant historical anniversaries. The Eleutheria Foundation, which has long supported young artists and their contemporary work, organized this exhibition for the third consecutive year, connecting Czech and Italian roots. The first year focused on fine art, the following year highlighted Czech and Italian photographers, and this year’s spotlight was on street art with a political undertone. The opening of the exhibition, symbolically titled On the Wings of Freedom, took place on September 19, 2019. The prominence of the number nine in the date and year was no coincidence. The 30th anniversary of the fall of communism and the 50th anniversary of Jan Palach’s death coincided with the 100th anniversary of establishing the Italian Embassy in Prague, one of the event’s main organizers.

The central theme of the exhibition, which ran until October 3, 2019, was freedom. Its significance was portrayed by four Czech and four Italian street artists. Representing the Czech Republic were ToyBox, David Strauzz, RushDog, and OBIC. From Italy, street artists Diamond, Flavio SOLO, Er Pinto, and Yest presented their visions. The choice of location for this street art event was clear and ultimately centered on the street itself. This venue featured a key symbol of liberation: Thunovská Street, connecting Nerudova Street and Zámecké schody, which runs alongside the Italian Embassy. This street is unique not only because it is Czech soil belonging to the Italian Republic but also because it opened to the public for the first time in over twenty years. The Eleutheria Foundation and the Italian Embassy in Prague organized the On the Wings of Freedom exhibition. The project was supported by Prague’s First District, the Italian-Czech Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Art&Design Institute.
