In 2012, I started traveling more, and during my trips, I met people who had often visited Prague. When I asked them what they had seen during their visit, they often replied that they had seen Charles Bridge and Old Town Square. This was disappointing for me because I knew how many cool places Prague has to offer. The real, “cool” Prague is hidden outside the typical tourist areas, and I dare say it can be just as cool, if not more so, than Berlin. When graffiti friends started visiting me, we spent time in places I love and where locals go. Once I heard: “I’ve been to Prague several times, but this is the real Prague. You should show this to more people!” That was the moment I decided I had to change something.
I met with my friend Tomáš Jelínek, who already had experience in the tourism industry (his mother had been working in this field since the 90s), and we founded Alternative Prague Tours. The beginning was tough, but over time, we got things going, gained many clients, and expanded our offerings. We have been running this project for 13 years, and during that time, we’ve changed the view of Prague for more than 70,000 people. In addition, we organize Street Art and graffiti workshops for schools and graffiti enthusiasts. I was the first person in the Czech Republic to start organizing graffiti workshops, but with Tomáš, we took this concept to a new level.
