GIRL POWER FOREVER

Prague/Czechia/2012

Girl Power Forever was likely the first female graffiti exhibition in Europe. At the time of its debut, there were very few women active in the graffiti scene, and social media platforms for connection and experience sharing, as we know them today, did not exist.

The main goal of the exhibition was to connect and support women involved in this unique art form. It showcased their talent while creating a space for dialogue and inspiration among women in the graffiti subculture. This initiative proved successful – the Girl Power Forever project strengthened the female community in street art and graffiti, not only in Europe but also globally.

Official Press release:

On June 30th, an opening event will take place at Prague’s Trafo Gallery for the documentary Girl Power, showcasing female graffiti from around the world to the public. The exhibition will be personally supported by artists from Poland, Slovakia, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France, and Spain, who are part of this international documentary. They will bring their canvases, sketches, graphics, and more to the exhibition. The exhibition will run until July 22, 2012, concluding with a closing event featuring Czech and Slovak DJs.

Visitors can also look forward to an international discussion on the topic of graffiti. The first international women’s graffiti jam will take place, and a female street dance group led by Leny One will perform. The opening event will include a major graffiti sketch battle open to everyone, with valuable Nike prizes for the winners.

Music will be provided by Hugo Toxxx, Smack, DJ Layup, DJ Autist, DJ Franill, DJ Wbwoy, and the group Sex Addict. You can look forward to an original party unlike anything Prague has seen before – and perhaps never will again.
