ART RESIDENCE BOTKYRKA

Stockholm/Sweden/2017

Artist and filmmaker Sany was invited to participate in Residence Botkyrka’s program through the collaboration of art critic and writer Macarena Dusant, Åsa Falewicz, and the Czech Center in Stockholm. As part of the residency, Sany’s film Girl Power was screened at Botkyrka Konsthall, followed by a conversation with Sany, Macarena Dusant, and artist Nachla Libre. The discussion offered a rich exploration of the film’s themes and its cultural relevance. In addition to the screening, Sany also hosted a graffiti workshop for local youth at an open wall in Fittja, where participants had the opportunity to engage with the art form and express themselves creatively.

During this time, Sany had the privilege of meeting legendary photographer and longtime friend Martha Cooper, who was holding an exhibition in Stockholm at the same time. The overlap of their work and the vibrant energy of the events made the experience even more special.

Both the film screening and the graffiti workshop were incredibly successful, creating lasting connections and new friendships in Stockholm. Sany is deeply grateful for everyone who helped make this possible and for the meaningful relationships formed during the journey.
